Biography:

There is no mistaking the artwork of Emma Knight – musing, moody, and quirky. After living and painting in Savannah, Georgia for twenty years, Knight has returned to her hometown of Richmond, Virginia and is thrilled to paint its cityscapes as well as neighboring Virginia landscapes.
Knight's landscapes are abstracted, yet the scenes are full of inferred space and very recognizable. She paints using the “indirect method” a slow process, which involves building many layers of paint.  For the past decade, she has been using water-mixable oils in an attempt to be friendlier to the environment.
Out of the 30 or so oil pieces Knight paints each year, the artist may select only a few for a small number of giclee prints. Giclee images are printed with archival quality inks onto canvas or fine art paper. This process provides extremely accurate color reproduction.
Knight studied art at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. Her paintings have been shown in art fairs, galleries and salons nationwide.
