Curtis H. Arima
is a Metalsmith and Ceramic artist raised in the San
Francisco Bay Area. His sculptural work and jewelry
has been exhibited
nationally. He has been involved in art-education for
over eight years, and exhibiting for more than 13 years.
Arima earned a BFA from the California College of Arts
and Crafts and a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
His work ranges from organic forms using the language
of gardening as a metaphor for self and society, to
formal explorations in sculptural objects, functional
pottery, and jewelry.
The reciprocal action of
teaching continues to amaze me. We all learn from each
other regardless of individual's outside careers, lives,
age, gender, or background. Because of this diversity,
I learn as much if not more from the students, as they
do from me. Each different aesthetics, and ways of thinking
benefits the class as a whole. Each of us shares the
universal fascination with creating.
